Fulfil Your Potential

In the words of our social workers . . .

Social worker and boy walking away from schoolI was very lucky that people around me guided me to achieve what I wanted to achieve. The support on the AMHP (Approved Mental Health Practitioner) course provided by Pembrokeshire County Council was excellent."

I started working at Pembrokeshire County Council in 2007 and I'm already a Senior Social Work Practitioner; I think the hard work you put in is recognised."

I was working as a social work assistant and I applied for a social work degree, the Authority sponsored me to do that, so it didn't cost me anything to do it. I had a couple of years experience so I think that helped with the interviews and presentations to get on the course. It was a willingness to want to do it. I qualified as a Social Worker in 2010 and now work in Community Care."

I was working as a welfare assistant for the Council when the traineeship came up. I got the place on the 3 year social work degree course at Swansea University. I studied full time and worked with different social work teams during the holidays. I now work as a social worker in the substance misuse team. I joined the substance misuse team in the summer and I really loved it and decided this was where I wanted to work. It's been a fantastic route."
